fall soup & wine tasting party

I love fall & home-made soup & entertaining. This weekend we put the three together and had a fall soup & wine tasting housewarming party. Here are a few photos from the evening:

I made Sweet Potato and Corn soup (I don't really like sweet potatoes, but this soup is YUMMY. It's also super healthy). My sweet husband made Winter Squash and Bacon soup (not so healthy--but very, very good). And, my step-dad made white chicken chili (Thanks, Tim). The soups were all a big hit. I also printed the recipes for each of the soups on fall colored card-stock, so those who wanted could leave with a recipe. Hosting a gathering can be a lot of fun. Choose a theme and go for it!

fall wardrobe must-haves

I love everything about fall...the leaves turning colors, apple cider, pumpkins, the cool, crisp air, bonfires, hayrides, and mostly--fall clothes. Today, I moved my fall clothing from the spare bedroom closet into my closet. Here are some of my fall wardrobe must-haves:

Comfy Black Pant (I got this exact pair at Target).
Jewel Colored Cami's with lace (deep fuchsia, dark plum, & turquoise blue).

Love me some arm warmers...and scarves!

Great, funky-cut sweater to wear over the cami's. (Layer, layer, layer).

CND Shellac Nail polish in Fedora.

Fun, extra long silver necklaces.

almost autumn

This weekend the weather has felt much more like early fall than late summer. Although, I love summers, I am excited that autumn is right around the corner. Here are some of my favorite things about fall:

*leaves turning colors
*hot cups of coffee on cool mornings
*opening the windows in the house
*fall smells--apple and pumpkin in particular
*fall colors for fingernails and toes
*planting mums
*sipping hot apple cider with lots of whipcream on top

I really appreciate living where there is a major distinction between the four seasons (although I must admit, I do wish winter lasted only 6 weeks). With each season, there is a renewed sense of excitement and hope. It's a reminder to me that there is definitely an amazing, loving God (Universe, Allah--whatever name you prefer) who has much bigger plans for us than we can ever imagine ourselves.
